Just placed my order on Sephora using the 20% off discount. But hurry! It only works through tomorrow (11-10-14)!

Use code GIFTVIP for 20% off. To receive an additional 4% off, shop through Ebates (I never buy online without shopping through ebates first).

Ebates is currently offering 4% back on Sephora purchases. If you don't have an Ebates account already, click HERE to sign up! I usually get about $10-$30 paid into my Paypal every three months.

Ebates works as a referral website. Ebates gets paid by companies for store referrals, and then gives its users a percentage of their profits. Cash back percentages range from 0.2% (Apple) to up to 50% (Proactive). Most beauty websites give you a return of 4%- 10% of your total purchase. There are always double cash back specials, as well as website coupons, and other offers. It's free to sign up, and free to use.

Butter London Bric-A-Brac

Bric-A-Brac is the last of the 5 polishes that I swatched on my mom. It is a full coverage red with "flaring shimmers in saffron red gel-like base" as described by Butter London. This is the only polish in the Steampunk Ball Collection Fashion set that is not a new color. Bric-A-Brac was originally released with Brick Lane Collection, and then released in full size.

This is a beautiful glow-from-within polish, or as my mom called it a "Ruby Slippers polish." You can see this in the swatches after the break.

Butter London Barkers

Barkers is probably my favorite of the polishes that my Mom helped me swatch from the Butter London Steampunk Ball Collection. Barkers is described on the Butter London website as an "opaque, grey with magenta-green shimmer."
L- Lightbox no flash, R- Lightbox w/ flash
For the last two polishes in this swatch session, the light really started to fade. You'll see the orange-red of the setting sun in the first swatches after the break.

Butter London Brass Goggles

Today's Butter London from the Steampunk Ball Collection is called Brass Goggles. Brass Goggles is the only glitter of the collection. While there are tons of glitters floating around out there, I'd say this one is pretty unique.

Butter London Full Steam Ahead

This is one of my favorite Butter Londons from the new Steampunk Ball Collection. It's called Full Steam Ahead and is a gorgeous grey cream.

This was my moms favorite of the collection. We ended up doing a full mani with Full Steam Ahead after we finished swatching.

Butter London Pinkies Up

Today is Butter London Pinkies Up from the Steampunk Ball Collection.Pinkies Up is described by Butter London as an opaque pink shimmer. I would describe it as a champaign color that could be considered a neutral.

Butter London Baroness

Hey everyone! My mom has been in town, so I've been hanging out with her. While she was here my new polishes from the new Butter London Steampunk Ball Collection arrived. That means that I have 9 new polishes to show you! My nails have been a little worse for wear lately, so my mom generously donated hers for 5 of the polishes.

First up I have Butter London Baroness. Baroness is described as an opaque burgundy metallic.

Marc Jacobs Midnight in Paris

Welcome to  a very difficult polish. Unique bottle with a great brush? Check. Great color? Check. Amazing one coater? Check. Photographs color accurately? No check.

Sephora describes this polish as "a collectable nail lacquer inspired by the magic of a Parisian night in a chic blue shade for the holiday season. " Midnight in Paris comes with a keepsake box, and a miniature storybook. The box adds a nice touch, especially if you are giving it as a gift. The storybook doesn't add much to the product in my opinion, and I wouldn't really say it was a story, more of a couple of facts about Marc Jacobs.

Wrap-up Wednesday- What Happened This Week 10/02- 10/07

Here's what happened this week in the polish world on my blog, in sales, and new trends and releases.

The Butter London Steam Punk Collection has been slowly released. The colors look to be awesome, but I must admit, there is something that disappoints me. After asking, I discovered that the polishes would not be available individually, nor will they all be available in full size. Since you've probably seen my Butter collection (and if you haven't click here), you know that I have only full sized polishes. The minis look funny (and yes, I know that sounds a bit neurotic) with the rest of the full sized polishes. I really, really, really wanted them to have full sizes available, but this collection and the last couple collections have some colors that have only been available in "fashion sized" and as part of a set.
The six new colors, all in "Fashion" size (aka minis).
Keep reading after the break to get more updates!

Indie Tuesday- Nerd Lacquer I Think You Call Me...Sexy

Happy day-after Monday. Today I have Nerd Lacquer I Think You Call Me... Sexy. I picked this up during the last Nerd restock. As it happened, it arrived just as I was about to swatch Marc Jacobs Midnight in Paris (which I'll show you tomorrow)! As it happens, Midnight made perfect undies.

For the swatches after the break I used one coat of I Think You Call Me... Sexy over Midnight in Paris.

Moyou Stamping Plates

I recently stumbled across the MoYou London stamping plates when looking for inspiration, and decided to order some for myself. Today I'm going to show you two of the four plates that I decided to order.

MoYou makes their plates with two different stamping image sizes. Since I have small nail beds, the small size works fine for me, but may be problematic for people with long nails or wide nail beds.

I'll show one plate of each type.

See the pictures and the other plate after the break!

Butter London Holo Comparisons- Trustafarian, Fishwife, and Dodgy Barnett

Butter London is my favorite nail polish brand, and the brand that I own the most colors from. On that note, if you ever want to see two Butters compared, let me know and I'll whip up a comparison swatch.

Here are some quick and dirty swatches of the three Butter London holos currently available: Trustafarian (green), Fishwife (blue), and Dodgy Barnett (silver). I did them when I first moved to Vermont, about 3 years ago. I have acquired more holos and Butters since then, but these swatches still do their job.

First up is Butter London Trustafarian. Trustafarian takes two coats for opacity and is a subtle scattered holo. It is a light sage green. It is slightly more visible holographic than is shown in the picture. It is darker than Butter London Bossy Boots (shown on the left) and more yellow that Color Club Kismet (on the right). If you want an in-your-face light-green holographic polish, go for Kismet (a 1-2 coater). If you're hunting for something subtle and maybe more work-appropriate, I love love love Trustafarian.

See Fishwife and Dodgy Barnett after the break!

Stash Saturday- NARS

Happy Stash Saturday everyone! This week I'm featuring NARS Cosmetics polishes. They retail for $20, and can be found on the NARS website. Recently, NARS has updated their polish formula, bottle, and brush shape. I am especially excited about the new brush and the removable cap.

Franken-cense Friday- Moana Malie

Happy Franken-cense Friday! Today's polish is Moana Malie, meaning Calm Ocean. It's a light green subtle linear holo with a yellow glow.  Occasionally the waters are still enough that they turn this color in the shallows.

Throwback Thursday- Chanel Cosmic Violine

It's Thursday! Or as the internet has dubbed it, Throwback Thursday. Today I have Chanel Cosmic Violine, an amazing red/brown polish with heavy gold and orange shimmer. Cosmic Violine was released in 2009 in the Celestial Lights Collection, so it isn't a super throwback, but it is no longer sold. I decided to feature it today because it can still be found and hasn't gotten to the uber-expensive prices that some of the other Chanels draw.

Check out the swatches after the break!

Wrap-up Wednesday- What Happened This Week 9/24- 10/01

Here's what happened this week in the polish world on my blog, in sales, and new trends and releases.

Essie Winter 2014 Collection- Here's a sneak preview of the new Essie 2014 Winter collection. It will be available for purchase on the 1st of October. This is a screen shot of the colors that I found here. Personally, I'm not loving them. I don't like pinks, and unless these color shots misrepresent what's available, then they don't look like anything unique.

piCture pOlish released a new topcoat called Gloss on Top! It is aimed to create a gel like finish, with a super shiny finish. Gloss on Top! retails for AU $11 (~$9.65 USD), and can be purchased from the piCture pOlish website here. Plus, check out the PP Daily Deal!

Indie Tuesday- Takko Lacquer Wanderlust

It's Tuesday, which means that we made it through Monday!

Today I have swatches of Takko Lacquer Wanderlust. Wanderlust is a muted dusky lilac polish with a strong teal shimmer. It's gorgeous, but also a pain to photograph. I had a difficult time getting the photos to be color accurate.
Lightbox, with flash
Takko Lacquer describes themselves as an earth conscious, vegan, and big 3 free brand. I bought my bottle of Wanderlust in late 2012, and it has no sinking, separating, or fading issues.

In my swatches I used three thin coats, and no topcoat. I did have a slight issue with pooling at the edges of my nails, but it was alleviated once I got used to the formula.

Makeup Monday- Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Makeup Liquid Foundation

Happy Monday!

Today I've got swatches of Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Makeup Liquid Foundation.  I received a sample palette of 8 different shades in one of my subscription boxes.

I usually buy my foundation from high end stores such as Sephora because they will color-match me. Lack of ability to try out formula and shade has kept me from trying drugstore brand foundation, so this was a great opportunity to try it out.

I'm going to start having Saturdays as the days I show parts of my stash. I've already showed you my Butter London's, and this week I'll show you my Diors!

I've been working on my vintage Dior collection, but I also have some current Diors.

Here they all are, check out my favorites after the jump!

Franken-cense Friday- Maku'e Ao

Today is the first Franken-cense Friday here on my blog. Franken-cense is the name for my indie polish brand. I mostly just dabble, but occasionally sell or gift, and love to share swatches.

Today I have Maku'e Ao, meaning purple illumination in Hawaiian. Maku'e Ao is a greyish-purple holographic polish with gold/orange/green flakies, and a slight duochrome. Maku'e is opaque in 2-3 coats depending on your application style, but also looks great layered.

In the following swatches I used three thin coats on all my nails except my ring finger, in which I layered one coat of Maku'e Ao over a black creme.

To see more angles continue reading after the break.

PSA- I know these pictures look like I'm wearing different polishes, but I assure you they are all pictures of Maku'e Ao.

Wrap-up Wednesday- What Happened This Week

Here's what happened this week in the polish world on my blog, in sales, and new trends and releases.

Butter London is offering 50% off of last orders! Snatch up polish for $7.50, mascara for $10, and browse through all their sets too! Click here to see the sale! (Ends on the 27th)

Deborah Lippmann just released a 15th Anniversary Limited Edition Fashion Size Trio. I love Lippmanns, especially her glitters! Minis are a great way to try out new brands, and I love the look of the Lippmann minis. The set retails for $29 and can be found here.

Ciate released a new gel kit. I'm not sure how it works, or how well, but it's called the Ciate Geltox Starter Kit. The kit retails for $99, and claims to be able to turn any polish into a long wearing gel polish. I already have a gel curing light, so I wont purchase the set, but if the individual items come up for sale, I'll definitely try them out! Click here to see this Sephora exclusive set! If you've already tried it, let me know, I'm super curious about it.
This week Essie Nail Wraps have been showing up in many Dollar Trees. They are great for a quick mani, are easy to use, and wear well. They retail for $1 so check out your local Dollar Tree today!

Urban Decay has four of their nail polishes on sale for just $5 each. Get on this deal quickly as it's a great one, and UD polishes rock! See them here. Spend $50 and get free shipping (maybe you liked the Electric Palette swatches I featured on Monday).
So that's what I have for this week. Anything I missed that you want to share? Comment below, and don't forget to follow to keep updated on new deals!

Butter London Sale! (aka what I'm doing on Saturday)

It's not like I'll be spending my whole Saturday (09/13/14) at Ulta shopping the Butter London 2/$15 sale, but that is where I'll be at 10am when my local store opens.

In my collection, the brand I have the most of is by far Butter London. I just did inventory and have a whopping 131 Butters, with plans to add a few more. On my list for this Saturday are Sprog, Cake Hole, Champers, and Union Jack Black.

If you're new to the brand, I'd recommend the following colors that are currently available at Ulta (there are others that are awesome too, but don't seem to be currently carried at Ulta). I decided to get my mom to help me with choices to get favorites from two age groups. I picked KnackeredScouse, and Giddy Kipper, as well as All Hail the QueenToff, and Wallis. As a bonus, I recommend Cor Blimey and Brick Lane from the 2014 Fall Brick Lane Collection (some Ulta stores may not have these two in stock yet).
KnackeredScouse, and Giddy Kipper
Swatch wheel L to R: Knackered, Knackered over black, Scouse, Scouse over black, Giddy Kipper, Scouse over Giddy Kipper.
All Hail the Queen, Toff, and Wallis
Left- No Flash, Right- With flash (note the scattered holo in All Hail the Queen)
Cor Blimey and Brick Lane
Left- Cor Blimey is a rich matte purple with pink shimmer

Normally Butter London polishes cost $15 each, so this sale means that they'll be 50% off. You can't really beat that. Ulta usually has a Butter London sale twice a year (once in the Fall, and once in the Spring) during their 21 Days of Beauty event.

Since this is such a great deal, I would recommend going at opening time before the good colors get bought out.

If there are any colors you're wondering about and want swatches or comparisons, let me know and I'll get them to you :)

As a bonus, here's my Butter London collection-

What colors will you be picking up? Comment below and let me know!

Illamasqua Melange

Guess what showed up in the mail yesterday! Illamasqua Melange

Illamasqua Melange is from the 2014 Fall Once Collection. This is the only polish in the collection, and the moment I saw it I knew I had to order it. This is a picture heavy post, so brace yourself. But trust me when I say, this polish is awesome.

I'll tease you with two macro shots of Melange on my nails. Neither have been edited, so you can see that Melange leans both teal and green. I would say that the majority of the time, Melange is more of a green.

See all the swatches after the break!
